Roger Baker used to sell piccadils and earned a fortune through it. Piccadills were those fan fancy neck collars won by famous British people in the 17th century. The place was referred to as Piccadil Hall, but it later becomes Piccadilly over time. About the “circus” part, it comes from the Latin, which means circle or ring. The Romans also used to refer to public areas such as this by calling them Circus. With time, the circle or ring is no more, but the name remains to this day.
